Duties and Responsibilities:
Sets up and operates computer numeric controlled lathes, machining centers and engravers, sets up and operates conventional machine tools such as lathes, vertical and horizontal mills, internal and external grinders, radial drills and jig bores which involve multiple set ups, in place machining of fixtures, debugging firstrun programs and making or suggesting changes to machine tool programs. The fabrication apprentice applies basic knowledge of materials, equipment and fabrication processes to modify and maintain systems. The fabrication journeyman lays out, cuts out and manufactures sheet metal projects of varying degrees of difficulty and complexity, sets up and operates conventional machine tools such as brakes, spot welders, manual grinders, drills and jig bores which involve multiple set ups, debugs first-run programs and makes or suggests changes to machine tool programs. The fabrication journeyman provides specialized and advanced expertise with materials, equipment and fabrication processes required to adapt and maintain systems. The specialist may also provide welding assistance and expertise.
1 year college with 2 years experience.
Candidate must possess and be able to maintain a government security clearance at a secret level.
