Recent Contract Awards and Latest News for SciTech Services, Inc.

March 2015

At the March 2015 General Membership meeting of the National Armaments Consortium, SciTech was presented the award for “Best Use of a Non-Traditional Defense Contractor” for performance on a prototype initiative for the Defense Ordnance Technology Consortium.  The award recognized the SciTech Services – Gradient Technology Team in the design, development, and installation of prototype demilitarization process equipment at Hawthorne Army Depot.

Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) has 291,000 Navy projectiles that require demilitarization.  The existing process equipment had not been used in many years, primarily due to excessive water consumption required during washout of energetic components.  Using new, high-pressure water pump technology, the Team successfully designed, built and demonstrated the new prototype system with reduced cycle time and increased production capacity – all while reducing water consumption from 80gpm to less than 10gpm.

The Team achieved this success by installing patented, high-pressure, water washout technology, licensed to the Government and available from Gradient Technology, a non-traditional defense contractor. During operational prototype testing, all projectiles passed Government cleanliness specifications.  This program was funded under SciTech Services Inc. initiative DOTC-09-01-INIT066.
